Andrew's 5th Birthday!

March 18 was the big day, Andrew turned five! Every birthday is a milestone, but for some reason this one was bigger than the rest. Andrew turning five meant that he is no longer my little boy. Andrew is turning into a big boy right before my eyes. Over the last year Andrew talks and acts like a big kid and has lost that little boy look. These last five years have flown by so fast. It feels like just yesterday Brandon was finishing up finals at Oregon State and I was calling him to tell him that my water broke in Costco and that I was headed to the hospital! Now speed up five years later and we have  a boy that weighs 40 pounds and stands at 42 inches tall (Yes, he's a little shorty). A few things about our big boy...

Andrew has amazing penmanship
He can add and subtract
Has started writing short sentences
Is very close to reading
Loves to color and do art projects
Can put a Lego set together with no problems even though it might say ages 8-14
Enjoys science experiments
Loves to play outside and dig in the dirt for worms
Paddles himself on the paddle board
Swims on his own
Loves his new Montessori preschool

Andrew is one smart boy so we are always finding new ways to challenge his brain. We couldn't be more proud of our son and can't wait to see how he grows over the next year!

On Andrew's birthday we kept it pretty simple because his big party was planned for the weekend. Andrew took cupcakes into his class to share in the morning which of course all the kids loved! While Andrew was at school Ava and I made cupcakes to enjoy after dinner to celebrate the big boys birthday! Here are a few pictures of the big day...

I added a few balloons to his bed to surprise him!

Surprise!

Soccer net

Yes, that is Christmas wapping paper ;) I forgot to purchase b-day paper so the boy got this that was colored by Ava!

Andrew's own tool set with real tools! Andrew loves to work on "projects" with Dad

Andrew's birthday party was a huge success! The day turned out to be beautiful so everyone was able to go outside and play. We had about 40 people at the house so I was thankful for the nice weather. The theme of the party was of course Legos! Andrew has so many legos so the decorations just had to be pulled out of the closet and built. Andrew and Caliea were a big help the day of the party building Legos to put around the house. The house was filled with the lego theme and looked great! Andrew absolutely loved how the hose looked!

The little girls finally got a turn :)

The Nano racers from The Brandon family were a huge hit!

Ava and Brooklyn had so much fun playing together!

Thank you to everyone that made Andrew's party so much fun! We are so thankful for all of you and can't wait to see you again at Ava's 3rd birthday :)
