WE ARE FINALLY HOME!!!!
The last week for us has been so busy so I hope you can understand as to why I'm behind on blogging. We brought home a ton of stuff from San Diego that took several days to put away. On top of the items we brought home we also had several wardrobe sized boxes full of household items that were boxed up because we rented our house while we were gone. The kids' rooms only had a bed and dresser in them so those had to be organized too. I was in a "get rid of it mode" when we got home so 5 garbage bags full of toys and two bags full of clothes were donated. Too many toys drives me nuts so I was happy to see those toys gone! As of now, the house still feels cluttered to me so I am slowly working on organizing it. I am definitely hitting up IKEA after we return from Hawaii :)
Overall we are enjoying being back home. The extra space in the house is nice for the kids but that also means extra house work for me. The cold and dark days are getting to me because I'm not used to it. For the last seven months I had sun and warm weather almost everyday. The inside of our house has been between 70 and 75 degrees and I still feel like I'm freezing. Thank goodness I'll be able to warm up in hawaii in a week!
Over the weekend we worked on the yard. Almost all of our plants had died. I guess that's what I get for being gone for almost two years ;) We also tore apart part of the deck to make our yard look bigger and make room for the hot tub we bought! We took out the planter boxes and benches. I can't believe how much bigger the yard looks. We plan to lay sod on the back left of the yard in the spring to give us more grass for the kids and the dog we plan to buy soon.
Here are a few pictures of the kiddos enjoying the back yard
On our way home from San Diego we stopped in to see my Mom and Dad at the Corvallis Fire Department. The kids absolutely loved exploring the fire department! My Dad will be retiring in May so this may have been our last time playing at the station. I grew up visiting my Dad at the station so for him to be retiring seems weird to me. As a kid I never thought of him retiring but the time has come for us to say goodbye to the station that we all know so well. I'm so proud of my Dad for his years of service to the Corvallis community. Thank you for being such a great Dad and Battalion Chief!
